Coronavirus: Current measures and recommendations of the TUHH

13.03.2020

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified the spread of the corona virus as a pandemic. Since the beginning of March, the Presidential Board of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) has set up a crisis management team that is already working according to the guidelines of a TUHH pandemic plan. This plan will come into full force as soon as a pandemic is declared for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg in accordance with the legal requirements. The TUHH Crisis Staff is in permanent coordination with the Ministry of Science, Research and Equal Opportunities (BWFG), all Hamburg universities and the Health Authority.

For the protection of all TUHH members and their families, further measures are being taken at the TUHH in addition to those already decreed to effectively counteract the dynamic development in the spread of the virus. In agreement with the BWFG and the state universities in Hamburg, no more examinations will be held in the current winter semester 2019/2020 from 16 March 2020. Following on from this, all of the TUHH's study rooms and PC pools and the TUHH library will close on 14 March 2020 until further notice. Furthermore, TUHH is postponing the start of the summer semester. Courses are expected to begin on April 20, 2020. The end of the lecture period will be postponed accordingly to 28 July 2020. Accordingly, the examination period will also be postponed. The examinations are expected to start on 29 July 2020 and will take place until 9 October 2020. In practice, this means that the first two examination weeks in July will be added to the end of the examination period. All events and business trips are prohibited from 16 March until further notice. Persons returning from affected regions or having had contact with infected persons are not allowed to enter the TUHH and have to keep an isolation period of 14 days. Employees in the service areas and administration will be given the opportunity for home office and telework as soon as possible. Communication and work will be digitalized as far as possible.

Please make sure you inform yourself about the respective regulations on a daily basis. The TUHH pandemic plan, current information and measures for TUHH staff and students can be found at https://www.tuhh.de/tuhh/uni/aktuelles/covid-19.html. This information is constantly updated.
