Coronavirus: TUHH in basic operation

18.03.2020

In the course of the current developments around the corona virus, the Executive Board of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) has ordered a changeover to basic operation from Wednesday, 18 March 2020. The TUHH is in permanent coordination with the Ministry of Science, Research and Equality (BWFG), all Hamburg universities and the health authorities. The basic operation is valid until further notice in order to effectively counteract the dynamic development in the spread of the virus.

In agreement with the BWFG and the Hamburg state universities and for the protection of all TUHH members and their families, the following regulations apply during basic operation:

TUHH Campus
The basic operation of the TUHH is secured. The scientific as well as the non-scientific areas continue to work on a reduced scale. Nevertheless, further measures are necessary within the framework of health prevention. For example, all TUHH buildings and the underground car parks (apart from buildings A and O and Harburger Schlossstraße 20) will remain closed until further notice. This also affects the facilities of the Hamburg Student Union and University Sports Hamburg (up to and including 19 April 2020). The TUHH grounds should only be entered by employees of the TU Hamburg with system-relevant tasks that maintain basic operations. The grounds and buildings of the TUHH will be increasingly guarded.

Teaching at the TUHH
Since 16 March 2020, no more examinations will be held in the current winter semester 2019/2020. Following on from this, all TUHH study rooms and PC pools as well as the TUHH library are closed until further notice. Furthermore, TUHH is postponing the start of the summer semester. Courses are expected to begin on April 20, 2020. The end of the lecture period will be postponed accordingly to 28 July 2020. Accordingly, the examination period will also be postponed. The examinations are expected to begin on 29 July 2020 and will be held until 9 October 2020. In practice, this means that the first two examination weeks in July will be added to the end of the examination period.
Alternative digital forms for examinations and seminars are being worked on during the now suspended operation.

Research at the TUHH
The research operation is shut down in a controlled manner. The central laboratory and the research workshops have suspended service operations until further notice.
