Another success for the Hamburg University of Technology: After already receiving top ratings in the CHE University Ranking 2023, the subject of Industrial Engineering and Management at the TU Hamburg also made it into the top ten universities in Germany in the University Ranking 2023 of the business magazine Wirtschaftswoche. A total of more than 500 HR managers from companies were asked which universities and universities of applied sciences train students best to meet their requirements. The TU Hamburg was ranked 6th in the field of industrial engineering.

In addition to forecasts for future job prospects, the HR managers also evaluated factors for a professional attitude of the graduates of the respective department. These included professional qualifications, aspects such as personality, practical experience, social commitment and experience abroad. In the master's program "International Industrial Engineering" (IWI) at the TU Hamburg, students acquire both technical competencies in engineering and economic fields as well as management competencies such as teamwork and leadership skills. In doing so, the TU Hamburg relies on an innovative concept that is not very common in Germany: the program builds on an engineering bachelor's degree and combines internationally recognized MBA content as well as innovative teaching methods with proven content from the industrial engineering program to create a special master-of-science program.

"I am very pleased about this ranking result of our IWI program, which is once again so outstanding," says program director Prof. Kathrin Fischer. "It shows once again that we are successful with our innovative teaching and intensive student support, thus offering our graduates an excellent theoretical and at the same time practical education that qualifies them excellently for challenging jobs in companies. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the entire dean's office for their tireless commitment to our students and the IWI program, which has made this success possible."

According to evaluations by Wirtschaftswoche, companies are finding it increasingly difficult to find suitable skilled workers. The respondents rate the prospects of the Absolvent∗innen to find a job appropriate to their degree as "very good". Since 2017, this figure has risen from 19 to 34 percent. 49 percent also say their job prospects are "good."

The Wirtschaftswoche ranking is carried out in collaboration with the employer branding consultancy Universum. The top ten colleges and universities are listed for each field of study.
