Start-ups, events, student working groups (AG's): There's a lot to discover at Hamburg University of Technology, but who's actually behind it? To find out, the students Julia Föllmer, Jan Famulla and Lennard Korte interview interesting personalities around the TU Hamburg in their new podcast "Planting Seeds". In addition to students, they also gather founders, employees or graduates behind their microphone. Each episode lasts about 25 minutes - perfect for the way from Hamburg's main train station to the TU campus. The project started as part of the University Innovation Fellows (UIF), a program of Standford d.school

From software development to clean water in Uganda

In the PEOPLE, INNOVATION and STUDENTS sections, listeners learn about the campus or the innovation landscape at TU Hamburg every other Monday. Those interested can look forward to a wide range of topics: Ruben Meuth, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of the start-up 3D Spark, has already been a guest. With the help of a software, the young company wants to calculate which components of machines can be manufactured more efficiently and cost-effectively through additive manufacturing. In the third podcast episode, Amelie from Engineers Without Borders was interviewed. The student traveled to Uganda with the TU Hamburg AG and built sanitary facilities at a school there, thus ensuring clean water access. In the latest episode, the podcast is a guest of Christian Salzmann, head of Startup Dock. The TU Hamburg's startup center helps students, researchers and alumni of Hamburg's universities to implement innovative ideas and provides advice on starting a business.

"With the podcast, we want to offer a kind of journey of discovery through the TU," says Jan Famulla, a master's student in regenerative energy. "There are plenty of innovative start-ups that have been founded out of the TU Hamburg and that, above all, demonstrate sustainable perspectives for the future with their ideas. We want to pass on this creativity through the podcast. At the same time, we also present what you can actually do as a student in addition to studying and interview employees from the individual areas," adds General Engineering Science student Julia Föllmer. The podcast is currently available on Spotify and Apple Podcast.

University Innovation Fellows

The UIF program supports students around the world in driving change at their own universities. The Fellows' role is to showcase the university's infrastructure and identify areas for action from it. They support their fellow students in awakening their creativity and thereby initiating change in the interests of the students. More than 2,200 fellows have already been trained at 267 universities worldwide. Students from TU Hamburg are participating for the fourth time.
