|Winning research funding is a competitive business. With much funding now targeted at international cooperation, the ability to write effectively and convincingly in English is a requirement of any researcher. This workshop is designed to help those who do not have English as their native language improve their ability to write research proposals especially for European funding programmes.
Content and Aim of the Workshop
Participants will learn how to identify good models and develop effective writing strategies to target an interdisciplinary readership and put their message across in English. Participants will be introduced to the 'grammar-free' portfolio approach to developing their writing skills, followed by a 'hands-on' practice session. The 'starter kit' portfolio can be developed beyond the workshop as a self-learning technique and adapted to all other types of writing in English. This semantic and structural approach can help writers save time in all future writing situations.
The course is limited to 16 participants who do not have English as their native language. The level of English should be intermediate or above. There is no need for a knowledge of grammar, but this course is not suitable for beginners.
The workshop is provided by International Cooperation & EU Office at TuTech Innovation GmbH, a technology transfer service company which has for over a decade provided support for researchers at Hamburg University of Technology in preparing proposals and providing pro active practical project management support for EC supported research projects, in many cases involving intensive partnerships with industry
