The Academic Senate of the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) elected Prof. Dr. Hendrik (Ed) Brinksma from the University of Twente (UT) as the new President. The University Council confirmed the choice. The office is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

Walter Conrads, Chairman of the Council of the TUHH, congratulates the designated President: "We are delighted that we were able to win an outstanding scientist and university manager as the new President of the TUHH with the growth prospect of the TUHH. With his international experience, Professor Brinksma can provide new impulses in research, teaching and technology transfer."

Hendrik (Ed) Brinksma (60) is Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Twente, and from 2009 to 2016 was Rector Magnificus at the University of Twente. Previously, the Dutch-born was the Scientific Director of the Institute for Embedded Systems in Eindhoven and Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology. As Dean, he headed the Faculty of Computer Science at the UT from 1995-1997. Brinksma is currently working at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, at the University of Twente and at the Singapore University of Technology and Design.
